Narayanan M Komerath


Dr. Komerath has 3 US Patents and more than 400 publications spanning fluid and aero dynamics, space concepts and micro renewable energy systems. He has been a part of the Army/NASA Georgia Tech Center of Excellence in Rotary Wing Aircraft Technology since its inception in 1982. Four of the 18 PhDs whom he has guided  have won Georgia Tech's Sigma Xi Outstanding PhD Thesis (top 1%) Award. He has also guided more than 70 MS and 200 undergraduate research projects, and performed more than 100 externally sponsored projects, directing the John Harper wind tunnel since 1990. He has chaired the ASEE's AE division (2008-09) and the American Helicopter Society's Aerodynamics Technical Committee (2014-15).

Welliver Summer Faculty Fellowship, 2004; Senior Sam Nunn Security Fellow in the School of International Affairs, 2004-06; Georgia Tech Leadership Award for Development of Graduate Research Assistants 1993; Sigma Xi 1993-94 Faculty Best Paper Award; Georgia Tech Award for Outstanding Ph.D.Thesis Advisor for the period 1992-97. Most Valuable Professor in Aerospace Engineering, 1991.
