Student Life Outside the Classroom

When our students are done with their work, there's plenty to fill up their time. Georgia Tech and the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering support a wide array of extra-curricular activities and resources our students. Here are some resources at the Daniel Guggenheim School to help you make the most of your time with us.

Career Fairs and Recruitment Sessions

Each Fall and Spring, the School of Aerospace Engineering hosts events designed to connect you with prospective internship slots, co-op sponsors, and employers. Many of the industry and government reps who flock to these events are AE grads; all of them are interested in what the School has to offer - ambitious, knowledgeable, self-starters.

Resources to Prepare You

  • GT Graduate Student Orientation & Expo (Look for dates in the Fall 2018 semester)
  • GT Graduate Student Employee Processing Session (Look for dates for the Fall 2018 semester)
If you are a new hire, you should complete compliance paperwork online prior to the session.
  • Grad Groups: Georgia Tech’s extended orientation program for new graduate students that provides opportunities for networking with other new graduate students from across campus and exposure to valuable campus resources

There are numerous local, regional, and national competitions hosted by the AE chapters of various organizations. Some of the design competitions will give you a chance to earn credit (and the attention of future employers). Even if you don't go for the credit, you'll have the time of your life.

Student Organizations

There are more than 200 registered organizations on the Georgia Tech campus - from A Capella to Zeta Tau Alpha. The Georgia Tech Office of Student Engagement has put together OrgSync, a website that features information on what all of the registered student organizations are doing every day. Sign up for OrgSync and you will get a weekly newsletter, The Weekly Digest, that tells you what's going on.

The School of Aerospace Engineering has also listed some of the organizations that are most popular with AE students below. We hope that helps, but don't be limited by our imagination. Check out the full list.
